Culinary Art India 2010 – “A toast to the Spirit of Culinary Excellence”

Culinary Art India 2010, the Professional Culinary Excellence Challenge organised by Hospitality First in association with The Indian Culinary Forum(ICF) and the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations(IFCA) once again emerged as a major event highlight at AAHAR2010 - The 25th International Hospitality and Food Industry exhibition held from 10 - 14th March, 2010 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

This year too the show stopping culinary event was judged by a panel of top national judges. An international jury member, Master Chef Noel Nalin Fonseka presided over the event as the Chief Judge. Over 150 chefs competed for gold, silver, bronze and some very special sponsored awards.

The 4 days of the Challenge saw some of the most eclectic displays of culinary talent and artistry from the finest hotels of the country. in different categories; three-tier wedding cakes, bakery and pastry showpieces, desserts, butter and margarine sculptures, plated appetizers, three course set menus, live cooking. A new category “Break-fast Menu” was introduced for the first time.

All in all, out of 175 participants, there were 13 Gold winners out of which 3 were gold with distinction, 28 Bronze, 16 Silver and 25 Certificate of Merit. The Grand Awards Ceremony was held at The ITPO Auditorium at Pragati Maidan on 14 March, 2010.

The Winner of “Tilda Innovation in Rice” was awarded a trip to FHA 2010 in Singapore by Tilda Rice, while the Winner of “Breakfast Menu” was awarded a “32 inches LCD TV” by John Keells Foods India Pvt. Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Gopalan, Director – Hospitality First, organisers of Culinary Art India 2010, reasoned how this Specialised event continues to remain critical and integral to the success of a truly international show like AAHAR, besides setting a professional platform for nurturing and showcasing all round culinary excellence.

Speaking at the Awards Ceremony, Mrs. Naseem Ishaque, General Manager, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) said in response to the success of the event, ITPO has recognized the complementary value Culinary Art India brings to AAHAR.

Master Chef Nalin Fonseka had very encouraging words to say about CAI,
“I have been part of the judging panel for the last 3 years, and I must admit that, there is remarkable improvement in the culinary exhibits over previous years, which truly reflects the involvement of Senior chefs and the serious effort put in by individuals in respective categories”
