IFCA Announces Award for the International Chefs Day
A FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE CUISINE FOR THE YEAR 2011 AND INTERNATIONAL CHEFS DAY

The Indian Federation of Culinary Associations is a nodal body of culinary professionals in India and is an independent, apolitical, non-religious and voluntary organization of culinary professionals. IFCA was formed with idea of developing the culinary profession and to highlight Indian cuisine on the Global platform. IFCA hopes to promote culinary knowledge, propagate various kinds of food, and bring obscure culinary styles and practices to the forefront.

The Main Objectives of the IFCA are:

  • Create and maintain bonds of friendship and foster professional co-operation and mutual understanding
  • Promote cooking, cuisines, recipes and quality products and technical know-how
  • Enable improvement in the professional standards within the industry through effective training and recruitment
  • Lay emphasis on communication and exchange of ideas and its role in development of the industry
  • Promote professional exchanges of personnel, scholarships, international culinary competitions and bursaries
  • Liaise with various related professional bodies and institutes in enabling training course apprenticeship schemes and related vocational links
  • Promote, foster and encourage the culinary art and related studies
  • To increase membership through education and professional advancement

Like in the past, IFCA takes pleasure in announcing the following Awards for organizations that conducts an event of worthwhile at their respective organizations. The Award will be called: “IFCA International Chefs Day Award”.

For Hotels:
There will be two awards for each category and an award for the overall Winner. The award will consist of a trophy for the hotel and a certificate to the executive chef. This will be awarded during the 5th IFCA National Culinary Congress.

In addition, top 5 participating hotels would be felicitated during the 5th IFCA National Culinary Congress.

For Hotel Management Institutes and Catering colleges:
There will be two awards for each category and an award for the overall Winner. The award will consist of a citation and a trophy to the college and ten certificates to the students who have organized the event. This will be awarded during the 5th IFCA National Culinary Congress.

In addition, top 5 participating institutes would be felicitated during the 5th IFCA National Culinary Congress.

This year’s theme is for International Chefs Day is

“FOCUS ON SUSTAINABLE CUISINE”

The competition will be in the following categories

Category A - Cuisine and Food
The event must be of one of the following concepts

  1. Food festivals
  2. Cuisine development
  3. Culinary Demonstration
  4. Culinary exhibition

Category B - Education
The event must be of one of the following concepts

  1. Seminars
  2. Training and development
  3. Culinary Contests
  4. Becoming a chef

Category C - Social cause
The event must be of one of the following concepts

  1. Charity events
  2. Development of Underprivileged students

Just conduct a program on the International Chef Day 20th October 2011!

You will have the privilege: Be part of the 10 million chefs who will be participating in this celebration from 93 countries. All the events will be notified to the WACS – international Body and will appear in the IFCA and WACS web site.

Dynamics :

  1. The participating Institute must have recognized SICA/ICF/WICA/EICA/APCA/Goa Chapter/Bangalore Chapter members (all subscription dues paid latest by 20th October). Contact ifcaoffice1@gmail.com or visit www.ifca.info for all membership and subscription enquiries.

  3. Conduct a program within the framework of the concept enclosed on the International Chefs day (20th October, 2011) in your organization.
  4. The event must be called “International Chefs Day October 20th, 2011” – the event in any other name will not be entertained.
  5. Submit a report to: Executive Officer ifca2005@gmail.com. The report must consist of at least 10 photographs (high-resolution photos burnt in a CD) and two-page write up to reach ifca2005@gmail.com latest by 5th November 2011. A separate report must be submitted for each event.
  6. The Jury will consist of the Executive Committee of IFCA and WACS members, which will be decided by the Executive Board of IFCA.

Judging Criteria:

  1. The event should be titled Chefs International Day – Use the chefs International Day logo and the IFCA logo for this particular event only.
  2. To be held between 20th and 30th October, 2011
  3. To be as per the concept enclosed

International Chefs Day - October 20th

The WACS CONGRESS HAS DECLARED THIS OFFICIALLY DURING THE WACS AGM AT IRELAND

Vision - To drive recognition for the World Association of Cooks Societies as well as the respective Country’s association on an international scale

Mission - To harness the worldwide culinary profession into promoting the status of the chef and in so doing gain recognition for WACS and the National Association
